Well, it seems that in light of McKenna's first choice of brilliant-audio-commercials being used as the assignment example, she's going to have to move on to her second choice. We hope you enjoy a little early holiday cheer...
1. What forms of audio are used in the commercial?
Lovely handbells performing 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas'
2. Who is the intended audience age/gender/race if relevant/economic bracket?
I rather think this might appeal to all sorts of holiday-goers, especially those who celebrate Christmas.
3. What is the mood created by the audio?
Holiday whimsy and a craving for chocolate.
4. What is the purpose/s: educate, train, entertain or inform?
Entertaining, definitely, while hinting that Hersheys = holiday cheer
5. Does the audio successfully promote the message of the product?
The message is 'buy Hersheys for the holidays'... the clever presentation of Hershey's Kisses as a handbell choir does make it stand out, since most people only hear handbells around Christmas.
6. Is the audio more entertaining and memorable than the product and its message?
Using the Kisses as handbells to play Christmas carols? I would definitely say that the product becomes just as memorable in this situation.
7. Does the audio help convince you to buy the product? If not, why?
Yeah, I'd have to say it does. I love handbells, personally, and while I'm not fond of Hershey's milk chocolate, I do adore their Special Dark and have a bag of the Special Dark Kisses running around right now.
And now for the bad:
